Of Truth And Of Travel by Francis Bacon Summary

Of Truth by Francis Bacon As indicated by the name this essay is all about truth... The negative side of lies is highlighted. although at one point, Bacon describes a lie as an alloy in metal to make it work better but this point in itself disapproves of telling lies by declaring that although it helps the metal to work better, still it lessens the value of the metal. Now let's start the explanation properly.

People do not like truth not because it is difficult to find it out or it takes labour but because it takes away the freedom of mind. That's why man is attracted to lies. A Poet lies to give his reader pleasure, a merchant to get a financial advantage... but the question is_ why does a man always lie? This is because Truth is naked and open Daylight, it does not hide But shows each and everything. On contrary, Lie is dim candlelight which hides reality and shows the triumph of the world as told by men.

One of the fathers (priest poet) said that poetry is the wine of the devil because it is filled with imagination but, to Bacon, in actuality, the lie of poetry is not such harmful as it does not have lasting effects.

The value of truth is known to only those who know it and experience and understand it. The only greatest quality of a person's nature is inquiry, knowledge and belief in truth.

God at first created the light of senses and in the end created the light of reason so that, men could be witty. After creating man,God bestowed him with the light of spirit so that can realize the value of truth.

The one who has realized the value truth, has gained the greatest pleasure in the world... If we get this height of pleasure, we can survey others how they are doing wrong with themselves by lying and moving towards their trial (end). One thing to remember here is that we should not feel proud after reaching that height but develop pity for those who lie.

If someone wants to live on Earth like in heaven, he must have to do 3 things; the love for charity, believe in God and turn upon the pole of truth.

Truth has role not only in theology or philosophy but also in day-to-day life. A mixture of truth and lies helps us in getting our goals. Falsehood is like alloy in a coin of silver and gold which may make the metal work the better but it embaseth it. Crooked and crafty people are like Serpents that go upon the belly, not on the feet.

OF TRAVEL BY FRANCIS BACON this essay is nothing but a bunch of advice for all the travelers. Now let's jump into the essays and learn it in an easy and interesting way. Travel in younger age is a part of education, in the elder, a part of experience. Anyone traveling in a new country should have known its language at least a little, otherwise, he won’t be able to get full benefit of travel as he will feel like a school there to learn knowledge first.

➤ One should keep a diary while land traveling as he/she keeps while sea traveling , as there are too many things to note down too.

A traveler must have a guide who is acquainted with the place.

Traveler should visit court of prince, court of justice, churches, monasteries, monuments, libraries, collages, shipping navy and many more places of the city he is traveling to gain knowledge.

A young traveler, if wants to get more knowledge in less time_ he must have a guide, a book (having info about that city) and a diary to note down knowledge.

He/she must keep on changing places to get an opportunity to interact with more and more people.

A traveler must avoid people of his own country abroad and try to live with the people of other countries, who are living in or traveling in that country he is traveling in. He should meet the native of that country too.

He should make acquaintance with secretaries and employed men of the embassy because in this way he can make knowledge of other countries too whose ambassadors he is meeting.

Traveler must avoid any kind of quarrels while traveling abroad for they will engage him into their own quarrels.

After returning home, the traveler must keep in touch with the people of the country he traveled.

In the end, Bacon speaks directly to the travelers and advises them that travelers! Your knowledge of abroad should appear in your behavior and discourse rather than your dress. You should not copy others' fashion but try to learn their culture so that you can make your own culture better.

Of Love by Francis Bacon Summary

Bacon stays negative about love throughout the essay. However in the end he describes certain kinds of love as moralistic and beneficial. So let's move toward the summary and easy explanation of the essay. Love as we see in dramas or fiction is not the real one because real love is of less intensity. just because writers' major earning lies in love themes and scenes, they add love to every form of fiction (whether it is a movie or a drama) to attract the audience and grab money. As far as real life is concerned, love is simply a synonym for destruction. Learn about history; you will come to know that those who were great, did not give any heed to the love_ if did, it was not of much intensity. There are two exceptions regarding this, Marcus Antonius and Appius Claudius. The first one, Marcus Antonius who was Octavio Caesar's partner in ruling Rome, fell in love with the queen of Egypt. Bacon says let's accept he was somehow more compassionate but the latter, Appius Cl

Of Simulation and Dissimulation By Francis Bacon Summary

To  speak the truth about yourself (what you are) needs a stronger heart (bravery). Those who aren't brave enough to accept and tell people what they actually are, are weaker one and so is their policy i.e they hide their actual self. Tacitus (ancient Roman historian) said about Livia that she was well aware of her husband, Augustus's policies and son, Tiberius's dissimulation. When Mucianus encouraged the Governor of Siria, Vespasian to declare war against the Roman Emperor, he refused because he was afraid of the piercing judgment (sharp mind) of Augustus and dissimulation (caution or closeness) of Tiberius. At that stage, Bacon admired these capabilities in a human being by saying if a man has a penetration of judgment like Augustus, he is well aware of when, where, to whom, how much and what to say. If a person Lacks this policy, he must adopt the Tiberius technique to keep things close and to keep quiet as

Understanding Preposition

I don't know about you but honestly, I used to be very scared of this giant PREPOSITION . But now, believe me, or not, it's just a piece of cake for me. So, I thought of sharing what helped me with you.    "let's learn together"     Definition: "Preposition is a word that links a noun or pronoun to other parts of the sentence" balaa balaa balaa..."    You must have read these types of definitions in your notebooks but I have nothing to do with these definitions. I want you to make your one after knowing fully what this GIANT preposition is. Before heading further into a concept or phenomenon, it is always helpful to examine the term defining it. so the same we are going to do with the concept of prepositions.   Just look at the word 'PREPOSITION' it seems to be derived from two PRE and POSITION. You all are familiar with the word POSITION which means the location of something or where a thing is kept. and I am pretty sure that you are al
